My friend has a 2000 Acura TL. One day coming home from work we decided to go at it. We were on the Pulaski Skyway here in Jersey City and I was in front. I took my Max to 142 and he was pretty much able to keep up. We got off the highway and hit a traffic light...next test, off the line. I'm new at driving stick so I know this is a major factor. Well, we took off and he immediatley had a slight lead (half a car). 1st gear and 2nd gear he maintained that lead. Once I popped her into 3rd....She pulled the TL right in and never looked back. I was amazed by this and so was he. TL

How much error does the dial have? It showed 142...how fast was I actually going? Does anybody know?

Dont for get for auto....

The Accord V6 too. Their 0-60 is like 8.8 or something. Well, I guess that' smore like a kill.hehe

FYI, the 2001 Cadillac Escalade is packin' a new 345hp 6L V8, and it can hit 60mph a full second faster than the Accord! It's almost a good match for an auto Max, if the driver is any good. Those trucks are getting fast...

V6 accord doesnot run 8.8, I don't know where U got that bullsh!t from.
V6 Camry XLE Auto 0-60 8.2
V6 Maxima SE Auto 0-60 7.8
V6 Accord EX Auto 0-60 7.9

Look at May 2000 Road & Track, Page 101.

Car and Driver did a test on Maxima GXE Auto, ACCORD V6, and CAMRY V6 LE, and these the #z they got.

Camry 8.0
Accord 8.1
Maxima 8.1 (maxima was a GXE)
So get your facts streight.

I killed a SI Last week with a S/C. they Guy is a friend of mine and he quit in 3rd gear b/c I was like 4 cars ahead of him.. he runs 14.9 1/4 mile. BMW X5 runs 7.8 0-60. The Auto Maxima is fast but there are a lot of cars that can give the Auto Maxima a hard time. The Stick is where You narrow that # down by a whole lot.

Civic SI runs 7.9 0-60 stock. on an average it runs 7.1 with S/C.. thats still slower then 5spd Max.

Yeah right. Even though we're not talking about the AE Maxima, I think you been watching that commercial about the AE Maxima too closely. You didn't actually believe it when they said, "Rocket launched," did you? You must really had a rocket strapped onto your car if you indeed beat a CamaroSS, Z28, and Civic SI w/turobo and NO2.

much more accurate. i believe a hks (albeit minor bugs) turbo accord ran .2 ticks less in an motor trend test.

not enough good bang-for-buck ratio imo.

No Chance

Maxima take out a mustang? I don't know if anyone here is from CT, but if they are they know about the pike. Every weekend people bring there cars there to street race. Maximas can eat just about any Honda, Toyota and other jap cars but they can't touch mustangs. My friends 97 Cobra runs a 4.9 sec 0-60, thats a just a little bit quicker then the max's advertised 6.7 0-60. So next time think it over before you write somthing rediculous.

Re: No Chance

thats a COBRA...a regular Mustang GT isn't that fast about a full second slower in the 1/4 mi.
I've already beaten a GT with my Max and I've only run my Max a total of 8 passes (I'm 1 for 3 against stangs)...
and my Max is all-stock w/ a K&N filter.
BTW: pre-2000 stang GT's ran hi 14's- 15flat.
the new ones are pretty quick though...low 14's.

Maxima Competition

The 99 and 00 Chrysler LHS and 300M are both good competition for the automax. With a '99 LHS I ran flat 7 second 0-60 and a 15.1 1/4 mile. I don't know how accurate this really is, though, because I was testing it with the Telsa Technologies G-Tech meter. If anyone else uses a G-Tech I'm interested to know what they think about it.
