Help!!! KONI Yellow Inserts problems

I'm trying to go to KONI Yellows on my 01 max, problem is the old owner went with KYB excel G struts so I don't have stock housing and I'm wondering has anyone gutted Excel G's and got the KONI to fit? if not does anyone have the dimensions: Length, width, ID and OD of the stock housing so I can measure mine?

If not does anyone have some blown stockers I can get off them?

Also I have read KYB AGX adjustables are good but for the life of me I can't find them for the 01 Max?

I had KYB GR2s and successfully converted them to Koni Yellows no problem. It was a challenge but their instructions are easy to follow and the results were professional looking.

Basically doing inserts allows them to provide the functionality without having to expend significant R&D resources on a unique housing for them.

They're strut inserts. They're adjustable like illuminas but not quite as easy as illuminas to adjust.

oh, i've never seen one before. not sure how it works. I was just gonna H&R 1.4 - 1.3 inch drop springs and pray to god my CVs don't get destroyed. didn't know you can make GR2s adjustable.

You can't. The Koni is the adjustable insert into the stock shock body. I think you can use gr2 body but it takes some modification to work. H&r I'm pretty sure won't blow your strut since it's a mild drop. H&R from what I've read are as close to stock ride as all the springs.

http://www.shiftice.com/spring_strut_decision.html

supposedly the H$Rs on tirerack are a 1.4" front and 1.3" rear drop and supposed to give a little better handling without sacrificing much ride quality. I wasn't really lookign to dro pthe car at all seeing as we go so many posts about failed half shafts when lowered but, i figured 1.4" would help with handling and not be so much that half shafts go out. specially being pair with KYB since they area decent brand.

H&R / KYB GR2 is probably THE best lowering spring/strut combo you can go with on the 5th gens. Impact to axles is negligible because it's a mild drop. You'll be fine. Go for it and don't look back.

Pretty much snake oil, yes.

You don't need a rear strut tower brace. They exist, but the benefits are negligible. Not even worth buying. FRONT strut tower brace though, is highly recommended.

the little ears that bar attaches to sure are small, maybe they could be beefed up with some spare steel and welder or maybe not nessicary.

Why no rear strut bar, not enough weight or weight distribution?

There's hardly any movement back there. The bar has nothing to do.

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but I got some H&R's off amazon for a steal and now need to decide on my struts. How do the Koni Inserts compare to KYB? Is one a significantly better option over the other?

Basically, I am a baby and need an adult to make decisions for me...

Konis ride far better than KYB. I had AGX and then yellows and there is no comparison.
