has anyone swapped out the older looking gear selector from a 2k with one from a 02-03? since trying to find an AE shift **** is almost impossible maybe swapping to the newer gear selector is easier. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

There are some mechanical differences I'm not sure you can overcome. First, as best I can recall, the throw of the shifter is longer for the 5.5 version. It also does not follow a linear path from P to 1. I'm trying remember if the 5g has overdrive on dash or shifter - in any case, OD is built into the shift mechanism for the 5.5 NOT a button. Also, the shaft on the 5.5 is solid and it uses a manual shift ****.

Fitment is the easy part. Getting it to work properly is going to be the challenge. Though, why not install a non-AE 5g shift mechanism?
