02 Maxima P1800 code

Hi guys. So my Maxima with 312k miles wouldn't start last night. Lots of mileage, I know. The lights are on, no cranking sound, and a fairly new alternator and starter. I recently got the code P1800 which is the VIAS Solenoid. Question, can this cause the car to not start? I have contacted my local stealership which told me it costs around $199.00.

No, the P1800 VIAS Solenoid will not prevent the car from starting.

If the starter isn't working, there are a bunch of possibilities. The starter is always near the top of the list. Rebuilt starters can go bad very early and they frequently do. The ignition switch is another possible cause. Manual trans cars have a switch on the clutch pedal that can go bad. There are 2 relays in the circuit, the alarm system malfunctioning or a broken wire.

If you work on your own car, here is a thread for you to read/follow:

Its an automatic transmission. I called the stealership and they dude said its possibly that the P1800 code is causing the car to not start. I called another stealership and they said the same thing. I will look at the ignition switch as well.

The dealer is just telling you that to get you to bring the car in. When you call, you are talking to a service writer and most of them don't know the effects of what a code may cause.

If you search the org for P1800, you will see how many people drive around with that code.

yes the po1800 code will not be the cause of your no-start condition, Its only for the vias valve, ive had that code come up and still can start my car and drive around, so Dont believe the dealership.
