I probably just had good luck or something, cause I ran 110watt H4s in my 2000 Maxima when I had it back 2yrs ago and them bulbs ran for almost 8months before one blew out. Still no wires burned, or the headlight assembly or the socket.
Like I said, my brother is a EE and he told me there is no way the wires can burn to a crisp cause that gauge can handle 3times the amount of normal wattage. Something else happened that caused that wire to burn to a crisp. I aint trying to flame, but like I said, my brother is a EE and he does this at his work all day, he tests the rating of wires.

Just go with the brand name bulbs like Polarg or PIAA with the standard wattage and you should be all set. It will give you the nice cool look in the lights and no burnt wirings.

What was your wattage? You were probably running too high, and that can fry the harness.
