Can I put my 2003 Toyota Camry xle HU and speakers in my 2003 Nissan Maxima?
SubscribeLike I have seen all over this forum, people are having problems with the cd player only having sound coming from the right side; well so am I. I just got this 2003 Maxima 6 months ago after my 2003 Camry got written off after an accident resulting in the frame being bent beyond logical repair. However, the sound system and HU still work perfectly and personally I liked it a lot better. Is it possible to put the HU and speakers from my 2003 Camry xle into my 2003 Maxima? I really don't like the bose stock system in it and the right side problem is infuriating. FYI I don't know much about cars, hence why I am asking on here. Thanks

Bad news... Since you have the bose system, it is not compatible with other speakers due to different resistance (ohm) values. Bose use 1 ohm speakers, while most others are 4 ohm. Secondly, replacing the speakers from the affected side most likely wouldn't solve your problem anyway, as the sound from one side issue is most likely a Bose head unit problem, not a speaker problem. Please search the multiple threads here about bose issues, but the best option is to rip and replace the Bose head unit and speakers. It's a little more upfront cost, but well worth it in the end. I have an '02 and '03 maxima, and I replaced the entire system in both cars , and am much happier. Now I have double din dvd players with amplifiers and pioneer speakers all the way around. I even added a small sub box in the trunk for great sounding bass as well. My advice is to replace the entire sound system!

Sanford gave you the bottom line and I will second that, at least partially. I also think you have come to that conclusion.Originally Posted by sanford7575

I was checking into the "Toyota-radio-in-a-Maxima" maybe a year ago and what I found out was that the Toyota head unit was physically larger than the head units Nissan used and would not fit in the Maxima opening. I don't remember what year and model Toyota the radio came out of, but chances are they are all the same size.
Earlier this year I replaced my Bose head unit with a Kenwood. I bought the radio, line adaptor, wiring adaptor, antenna adapter, trim adapter - everything for just under $160. I did use the Bose speakers because there wasn't anything wrong with them.

I mean, regardless of what you do, make sure you take off your door panels and check the condition of the speakers. The ones that aren't working may just have corroded terminals that are preventing them from working, or even perhaps a loose wire. I had this problem, non-bose, when I switched from factory sound, and corroded terminals were the cause of all my problems.Originally Posted by DennisMik
