Unknown sensor location

I have a 2002 maxima with a 3.5L and the other day I was walking towards my car, I saw a wire with a sensor hanging under the engine resting on the floor. I opened the hood and pulled it from under the engine and it wasn't connected to anything. It doesn't say anything other than Bridgestone. It's a square shaped sensor and I don't know where it plugs into. Thanks.

If it was disconnected at both ends, then it wasn't in use. Did you have any repairs done to the car? Maybe it was laying in the street and it somehow got tangles in your car.

You need to post a photo of this sensor.

Let me guess, you're car is an auto? That's part of the electronic motor mount that someone probably replaced and left under there. Does it have 3 wires and one side of the sensor has a flat metal shaft coming out?

Yeah I think that's the part. I just posted a picture.

You can throw it away. Mechanics think it'll throw a code, so they leave it attached and for some reason this one wasn't even plugged in lol.

So this sensor doesn't plug in to anywhere? It has the holes on the top and it has 2 bolts that attach it to somewhere from what it looks like.

it usually goes to the motor mounts for AT models. it is known to cause ecu damage if left in place, so many people unplug it (and is widely recommended on this site). it is likely your mounts were replaced with manual mounts at some point and this piece was just left in the engine bay. you don't need it or want it for anything

It's probably what happened when we did the engine swap. I noticed a lot of oil built up on the side of the engine block due to the camshaft sensor. I read that there's a recall on the camshaft and crankshaft sensors but that was in 2009 I think. I wonder if they will still replace it for free.
