P0740 code torque convertor clutch circuit malfunction keeps popping up cant pass inspection need my car though does anyone know the process of getting rid of this code without swapping out the tranny mechanic told me i could take out sensor out of gear box for 350 dollars he also said this was a common problem with 2000 maximas can anybody shed some light?

Just from personal experience if you're getting that code there's a reason behind it. It's not a generic code. I was getting a 1st gear malfunction code and my tranny died soon after. I would look into finding out why you're getting the code. Is your tranny shifting abnormally??
