P0340 Code on a 2000 SE and hoses.
Hi all,
This is my first post. I have a 2000 SE. I'm looking for help with three things.
A) I've been getting the P1320 code for some time (I've mostly ignored it), but now I'm getting the P0340 code every once in a while. I have not seen the P030X code. It goes away when I turn off the car. I've already tried disconnecting each Ignition Coil on at a time, but the revs when down when I disconnected each one. Should I just go ahead and by one of the front and back coils to test by swapping them out or is there a better way to test?
B) As I was checking the coils I noticed that I have a cracked hose. It's that hose at the top left side of the picture. I couldn't find any diagram online that would tell me what this hose is for. The hose itself is very stiff. Any information about this would be very helpful.
C) I also noticed a cut hose
. I couldn't find where this was supposed to be connected to.
Thanks in advance.

front cover facing the camshaft sprocket. It detects the cylinder #
signal. Check that the wires going to it are ok. Unplug and replug the connector several times to clean the contacts. You can take it out and inspect it, but there isn't much to see. Don't lose the o-ring. If all these checking thing don't help, you'll have to replace the sensor.
The p1320 code is a nasty code. Many times it is caused by ignition coils that are just starting to fail but not yet at the point og causing a P030x code. However, the P0340 code can also cause the P1320, so fix that first.

That's the way it's supposed to be. That is the breather hose for the automatic transmission.

Thanks for the info @DennisMik and @cornholio.
@cornholio, did you buy the hose online? where? I see they have one here http://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts...826-31u00.html
@DennisMik, I'll see if I can clean the wires and hopefully that stops the signals.

fwiw i wasn't having any engine trouble prior to replacing, was doing valve cover gaskets and had to cut that one to get it off because it was so stiff, the other was in bad shape too so i replaced that one as well.

P0340 is the camshaft position sensor (PHASE). It is located on the engine
front cover facing the camshaft sprocket.

@DennisMik, I took out the sensor and wiped it down. It was full of gunk both inside and out. I replace the o ring with one that I got at the hardware store. The old o ring was stiff and since it was leaking I think it needed replacing. I cleaned the connector took. My wife had not driven even a mile when the SLIP and TCS lights came back on.
Anything else you can think of before I bite the bullet and buy the sensor?

Apparently the hose I purchased was for the 4th Gen. It wasn't long enough so I ended up going to Auto Zone and buying a similar hose ($5) and cut that to size. Should I order the correct hose or can I keep going with the Jerry rigged one?
