2001 Maxima Stereo Troubles
2001 Maxima Stereo Troubles
Hello all,
I'm having trouble with my stereo after my car was repaired and thought this was the best place to ask questions. I ran into a curb one icy morning and my alignment was off so I brought it to a shop and they fixed that, a cracked windshield and replaced a stud in my wheel and two bolts. Nothing electrical. My stereo was working fine until I picked up my car. The stereo wouldn't even start up. I brought it back and they said they couldn't figure it out and of course placed blame on something internal with the stereo. I hardly think this was coincidental but I guess it's possible. They figured out the only thing that did work was the CD player. Oddly that is the only thing that made the stereo work but that's it. No FM, no nothing. You can't even skip to the next track. All buttons are worthless except putting the CD in and ejecting it. Does anyone have a clue what this is caused from? Did they short the stereo when disconnecting the battery for some reason?

the stereo is a self contained unit. All it needs is 12 volts, some speakers and an antenna. Since the CD player works (sort of), then the head unit is getting the 12 volts. Since the buttons don't work, then the problem is in the head unit itself.
I can't think of anything that the repair shop could have done. Strange as the timing of this is, it is an unfortunate circumstance.
