Just instaleld BerkTech intake!!
I like this intake.
1)This is not as loud as the other intakes cause it is a pop charger. It leaves the rest of the factory intake tubing on. I noticed that this is not as loud as the Stillen intake I used to have on my bro's 98 SE. But I like it better like this. I don't like it when the intake is too loud and makes my Max sound like a Harley or Mustang.
Under moderate throttle, it makes this high tech deep noise. It is not a growl, but it just sounds deep and cool.
Under WOT, it roars, of couse. But the roar is not as loud as some of you may like. When idling, you can't hear any of that trademark sucking sound. Very Stealthy.
Overall, I like this intake a lot. You can't beat the price!!!
When I redline it in first gear, it sounds kinda like an air impact wrench, not that loud "DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DAAAHHHHHH".
I like.

Now that I've driven the car for a few hours,
I'm not sure if it's my imagination or not, But I feel some power gain. First gear winds up too fast anyways so I can't tell, but from second gear on, the car feels a bit stronger. I don't feel any loss in low end torque. I haven't been able to test 3rd gear yet, (need to go out on the interstate for that), but second gear feels seriously stronger. Even second gear can push me hard into the seat. (it did that before too of course, but it just feels stronger now).
I really like the sound of this. Not too loud, but very refined.

A few announcements:
I am working on my V2 intakes which will replace the rubber accordian tube and resonator box with a polished aluminum tube. I will have my first prototype on Thursday for the 2000-01, 2002, and Altima '02 3.5. People with the V1 can upgrade when they are available.
My K&N shipment is lagging so in the mean time I bought some S&B filters. They have the the velocity stack in the middle and a molded in velocity stack inside the filter neck like the Injen filters. Take a look here. http://injen.com/open_filter.jpg They also use a blue oil which just looks cool.
These are avaiable now.

Sorry if the link bfr didn't work,,,here try this one
Got mine installed yesterday. here is the link for the install
i finished the install in about 15 minutes. i am very pleased with the gains. if anything i noticed a power gain in low end torque. it's not 2 loud, but 3500+, you can really hear it.
i have an automagic, and i definatley felt the difference
didnot have to reset the ECU, look at my install pics, and you will see how easy it is,,
here is the link for the install
thanks Bryanberkintake install

Sorry Steve, but I only sell complete products. None of this TIG welded B.S. adaptors and no mounting brackets and such.
That post is totally uncalled for. Big mistake.

No, I believe what you said was uncalled for. Steve posted what he thinks your expected gains are. 5hp 0tq. I agree.
To go off and bash our product like that, in my opinion, was not very mature of you.
Rest assured we have done our research as to what works and what doesnt. If we felt a need for the bracket, we would have supplied one, however we didnt. Our setup replaces the tube just before the TB with a rather stiff rubber coupling, this coupling can support the weight of the intake very well.
I refuse to bash your products because I believe your product is very well done. In your case you do need a bracket, and that bracket itself looks to be done very well. I do disagree with some aspects of your design, however, I wont present them in a public manner just as you did.
Feel free to email me or Steve.

P.s. And yes I am awaiting dynos... because I believe the users of this forum have a right to know .

And about your dynos - it doesn't give SAE corrected ratings. The temperature at 10:00AM in January, in Massachusets - how cold must that be? 20-30 deg F? Those SAE corrected numbers are overcompensated in weather that cold, by as much as 5-10%, yes up to 20hp. That same car being dyno'ed in southern CA WILL make less power in 60 deg weather. I just thought the board had a right to know.

I just talked to Steve and I am 100% sure that the dynos are SAE corrected. If you want... we can get our uncorrected scores, which were around 230hp and 250+tq.
But I dont think that will be neccesary since other .org members are getting similar corrected gains.

Coincidental input after this past argument...
Hey Frankencar, Cobymoby, and fellow 5th-Genners...
I placed an order last week with Bryan (cobymoby) for a BerkTech Intake, and I just received it yesterday. This morning, I sent an email to Bran praising him on a well-designed product, and that I was VERY happy with the intake...I even solicited him to let me sell them on eBay!
Then I went to this thread, 2 pages back in the forum to post my praise, and I found this quibbling between Frankencar and BerkTech...
To everyone...I was running a generic, open element air filter w/ a cheap MAF adaptor on my 2K1 that I purchased for MORE than the BerkTech...then I noticed that after installing the BRACKET-LESS air filter, the filter/MAF/hose started SAGGING so much after running it around for a couple hundred miles that I JUMPED on the BerkTech offer, just for the bracket alone!!! What I got was a high-quality adaptor (that fits perfectly) and a nice bracket to hold the assembly up. IMO, for the current offered price I think EVERYONE should buy one (sorry, Frankencar!)
I see JWT sells their POP charger for what...$115?? Frankencar's "Stage 3" Intake is $139??? Heck, the K&N filter ALONE costs me $46 at AutoZone! Hey, people...it's your money For me, my 5-speed responds GREAT and sounds AWESOME with the BerkTech, and costs far less for the same filter that everyone else uses.

Thanks to the both of you. I think that this quibble thing between Berk Technology and Frankencar is an unfortunate incident. I'm just furious that they are talking trash on a post about MY intakes. I'm going to ignore whatever Steve or Matt have to say.
But thanks again to the both of you for the UNSOLICITED support.

our support is unsolicited and we did not see a need for the bracket due to the fact that we replace the flimsy stock accordian with a stiff rubber connector that more then supports the weight of the intake, and our stage 2 setup for isn't just a pop it's the whole replacement piece for the entire airbox. and i also said nothing to trash your intake, most POP chargers alone make about 5hp and gain NO torque, so i apoligize for posting facts. i think your comments in the email were a little too far, but that's not for the public. to each is own and bye....

I did get a bit heated in my emails (I actually cussed at him) and I should apologize for that but......that exhaust tube you have on your intake doesn't do anything. It just makes noise. I will be making these pieces for my 2000-01 and 2002 intakes but only for cosmetic reasons. If you take your exhaust pipe off your intake it will make the same power. That's another reason why I'm getting so upset about your "pop charger this, pop that". Both of our products are the same, we took out that darn factory air box and stuck a filter on the end. But I'm getting tired of this man.....
