What's the warranty on parts?

Hi guys,

I had my alternator in my 03 replaced March 18, 2015, one year and two weeks ago. The voltage regulator is fried.

The service department is closed now, of course, so I need to ask here: does anyone know what warranty is on the parts and labor for such things? I can't find that service slip, either.

Thanks,

Jack

Where did you purchase the alternator?
Nissan:
All of the genuine Nissan Parts and Accessories are covered by manufacturer's 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty. Electrical items must be returned to us first for inspection to qualify for warranty coverage. The parts we carried are designed specifically for vehicles originally sold in the United States.

Over on Rock Auto you can get a new alternator, lifetime warranty $110.79.

Thanks for that. I bought it through Pence Nissan here in town, they installed it. 12 months, two weeks ago. Freaking fantastic.

How the hell did the first one last 12 years and 230,000 miles, and this one gets me 12 months and just under 12,000 miles?

Ugh.

Contact them and be polite, but firm. Stealerships don't care but you are close to the warranty windows. Perhaps, if they're not total pieces of ****, they'll cover it.

Thanks, man. I still plan on calling them, but it's so aggravating, you know?

You got a rebuilt alternator. Dealers don't stock new alternators for these cars any more.

True. I finally found the ticket, and it's listed as "Alternator, Reman $400"

I thought it would be better than the one I got from Advance, but nope.

Well, most anything is better than Advance/AutoZone rebuilt units as they are cheap for a reason, but do come with a lifetime warranty, that's why I try and buy new. Just had the OEM alt go on our RX7 Turbo that we purchased new, so went with a new 160 amp unit for $160.

Good advice from above as the dealership may be helpful, but don't get your hopes up as some stick by
the date and won't bend. Never forget, the son purchased a new Trans Am and the carb needed repair at 175 miles over the warranty period and they wouldn't help him out, so Dad had to tear into the carb.

Good luck and let us know Pence Nissan treated you.

So the Advance ones have a liftetime warranty? I need to check that out, as I still have it in the box from when they pulled it out.

The dealer said they won't comp it, PLUS they insist on $120 diagnosis fee...even when any moron can smell burning electronics and to a voltage test.

My wiring is fine, just bad regulators!

Thanks, guys!

Another great dealership!!!!!!!!!

Depending on the alternator purchased, Advance has warranties of 1 yr, 2 yr, and lifetime.

Dealerships need dissolved. They're middlemen for the sake of being a middleman to swindle people.

I've had good luck with advance alternators.

Autozone and Napa are similar lifetime warranties on lots of parts. Saves time, cost, and pain trying to ship something back to RockAuto.

Its why I ended up getting my Axles from NAPA, exchanged a bad one 6 months later with the receipt no issue. Don't have to wait for a replacement part either.

NAPA reman axles only carry a 3/36 warranty. To get the Lifetime warranty, one needs to purchase a new unit.
Sorry to say that any axle that goes bad in 6 mos is junk in my opinion.

The daughter's 2k Max still has the original axles and CV joints at 257,000, but I did replace the outer boots once.
