Hey i want to convert my 01 Ae into a 5spd... Is it worth it or will it be a better car being an auto with the right mods? Are they any valve body mods, shift kits etc... Can i advance timing etc... Who has done what and the benefits?

 

If you want a better, faster, crisper shifting automatic, get a Transgo HD2 shift kit.

I recently made the switch from auto to manual last year. I just bought a manual and sold my auto. It's not worth the time and money to convert unless you cant find a manual max anywhere near you

 

It all varies on the condition of your car overall. A 5 speed is hella cheaper to fix when it breaks, and even when it does its usualy stripped gears from grinding or glazed clutch. when an A/T goes well.....it could be anything from the sensors, internal pressure leak, bad clutch frictions, improperly grounded, wrong fluid type, etc. once something actualy fails in an auto, everything else fails faster. unless the car has real value to it like alot of mods, or very low miles then save your self the headache and just buy one. i got a 5 spd 00 max for 500, they are out there.

 

Ok thanks for the info... Its a 01AE. If i can find a 5spd or 6...Lol for a decent price ill keep, but im curious to see just how a well build auto can perform
