Noise From Engine

Here is a link to dropbox for the video I took :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dgqej4hcjw...50523.mp4?dl=0

I have a 2000 Maxima GLE. There is some knocking type noise coming from the engine. I already showed the car to a mechanic, and he said that there isn't any way to be sure without taking apart the engine and looking. However, he said it sounded like rod knocking or possibly a timing chain, though he thinks the former is more likely. I am not completely sure of the technical details of what he went over, since I am no expert with engines. In any case he recommended changing the engine with a used one, since it would probably be the more reliable option even though it may cost slightly more than opening this one and repairing it. The car currently has ~ 190,000 miles.

I was just wondering if anyone here can identify this or has heard a similar noise. Also based on how the noise is, does anyone have an idea how long I could expect the engine to run before it completely breaks down? I attached a link the video I took above.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah....you can't drive it like that lmfao. Are you high?

That doesn't sound anything like chain slap or rod knock unless the bearing is gone lol(or maybe it's just the mic). It sounds like something broken in there bouncing around O_O I guess if the bearing slipped.

Did it knock lightly before or was just loud all of the sudden? Take a vid of revving it some.

Is it really that loud as in the vid?

Yes, it's that loud. I didn't amplify the sound or anything. At this point it still drives fine. I noticed it on the freeway about 40 miles from home. Though at this point I don't think paying for repairs or replacing the engine is a good idea, since the car is old and there have been a variety of other repairs over the years that have added up, and based on its age it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect otherwise in the future.

I think it started off around that loud, but maybe I just didn't notice it before as it started on the freeway and the only reason I heard it was when traffic was slow and there was less background pose. However, I think it may have gotten slightly louder since yesterday, which was when I last drove it and noticed the noise.

Ok, I'll post another video revving it.

Ok, so I took another video. However, the noise has changed since the first video, so I am thinking whatever it was may have gotten worse. It is no longer that knocking noise now. What is going on?

Thanks

It sounds weird and too fast for knocking.

You can at least take off the tensioner cover and see if there's anything ****ed up. Do that and take a pic. Take off the motor mount for space.
