Hey, I am interested in finding a Maxima SE 6 speed without a sunroof. Has anybody seen one?

Sunroofs:
1. Cost ~$1k
2. Take away valuable headroom space.
3. Leak
4. Rust
5. Never get used (by me)
6. Make noise at high speeds.
7. Break.

Just my thoughts...

 

well, it wont break if you dont use it. i'm 6'3'' and i fit in the car fine with sunroof. mine doesnt make noise when its closed (96 SE). rusting and leaking probably wont happen. prices would be the only issue for me. and if you take a car off the lot with a sunroof instead of searching for one or ordering one you'll probably save somewhere near the cost of the roof.

 

Yes it is true that if I do not use it, it probably won't break. I just hate paying for something that I don't want, won't use and have to worry about in the future (albeit only worry a little bit).

 

To add, if you go to a good dealer chances are they'll throw in that Sunroof (invoice btw is only around $600 for the sunroof).

My mom got the car she really wanted + a sunroof thrown in just because the dealer wanted to sell her the car before the end of the day. (Otherwise we'd have went to another dealer to get the car she initially wanted... without a sunroof)

 

I bought a 2k2 6 speed w/o a roof. I live in Germantown, MD.

Merlot w/charcoal grey interior.

 

unfortunately the way Maxima options are packaged, on the SE the sunroof is required to get any of these options
Leather
Bose
Meridian
etc...
so you may find one without a sunroof, but it won't have much of anything else either. Maybe floor mats.

 

That is true. I have the regular cd/cassette combo. I had the sunroof installed after the purchase of the car. It worked out a lot better for my walet. Otherwise, it's a base SE MAX. Are ther any Maxima meets in Maryland/DC area?

 

That is exactly what I want. No options. I am hoping to get an SE for ~$23,300. I figure that at that price, there is no better car. At close to $30k, a number of other cars become appealing.

Given all the stuff Maxima comes with standard (HIDs, alarm, Homelink, CD, pwr driver seat) makes $ sense for you!

Your dealer should be able to locate one for you, find a dealer you like, tell him what you want and he can run a trace on it in your area...good luck

I beg to disagree. My mom was able to get the same exact car i have (Base SE) except hers had the sunroof.

No other options whatsoever.

Nope. It's standard on that model. It's listed on the window sticker itself.

Plus with only 2 miles on the odometer i don't know how they managed to bring it to the local installer which is roughly 5 miles (one-way) from the dealership.

 

I have seen quite a number of SE 6 speeds with just a sunroof at dealers.

 

yeah, you can get just the sunroof. What I meant was to get any of the other options listed, you must also get the sunroof.
