Both cooling fans stopped working

Both of my cooling fans stopped working, although the one on the drivers side turns very, very, slowly. I checked the two fuses in the fuse box on the drivers side of the engine compartment. Both are fine.
The fans also do not turn on when the A/C is turned on, which incidentally only works occasionally and started giving me trouble about the same time the fans did.
Any suggestions as to where to investigate next?

Check to see if you're getting power to the fans

This is odd b/c there's high and low speed. I would say it's a relay, but both relays at the same time? Or perhaps the high speed relay has been dead the whole time...

Idk, you're going to have to test the relays or take some from the junkyard and see. Where's Derrick

Where are the relays for these fans?

All three are for them.

I just saw a thread where both fan motors were dead. Do what nestor said and check for power to them, maybe the 2nd one just died and you were getting by with one all this time.

If they have power, then you know your answer (sounds like one does and is bad). If one doesn't have power, then replace that relay, too.

Ok, I just checked the power to the fans by 1) Turning on the A/C 2) waiting for the engine to heat up.
In both instances the drivers side fan came on but the passengers side fan didn't although there WAS voltage to it as tested thru the harness with a multi meter.
So...it would seem that fan motor is gone.

I agree with Child_uv_KoRn that you probably had one dead fan and now the 2nd one is dying too. When you get the fans working, the a/c will probably be ok.

Things to try:

When the engine is off, try wiggling the fan blade front to rear. There should be absolutely no wiggle. If there is, the motor is bad.

Swap the fan relays around. All 3 relays are the same part. Fan Relay 1 is used for the low speed on both motors. Fan Relay 2 is used for the high speed on the motor closest to the battery. Fan relay 3 is used for high speed on the fan on the passenger side.

There IS a little wiggle on the bad fan while the still operating fan is tight.

The two fan unit is $79 delivered on Amazon.

It does look like the fans are bad. A year or two ago I had to replace one of the fans on my 00. A few months later the other one went too.

You can also hotwire a fan to see if it comes on or not. Each one has a four pin plug. The black is ground and the red with stripe is hot. The white and blue don't matter for this. Add power and ground to the appropriate pins and the fan should come on.

Ordered the Depo fan assembly from Amazon and installed it.
Removed the air intake and moved the upper radiator hose out of the way and removed 2 bolts. Simple lift out and replace.

Thanks gentlemen for your advice.

i was just about to post asking for help about this, but this whole thread seemed to answer everything. i kinda hope its the fans just so i dont have to deal with any electrical issues. thought if it was a simple relay that would be sweet.
