Brake issue

Hey guys... Bought a 5.5 with 201XXX miles on it for my lady. Any way the owner said that the pax side brake tend to get suck and said that the car pull to the right while driving. (Which it does). Why is the brake stuck and what is the remedy? All other braking action works fine.

I had a sticking caliper in the rear. Took the caliper off, cleaned and greased everything up, and it has been working great since. See if you can retract the piston. If you can, it probably just got stuck. Try flooring the brakes in park to try and break it free.

There are guide pins that allow the caliper to slide as it clamps the brake pads to the rotor and then release. These pins get corroded and and the caliper stays locked in place. These pins need to be replaced on a regular basis.

See page 23 in the link and look at parts labeled # 1 near the top right corner.

Here is a link to those pins at autozone.

1.) Pull out pins
2.) Wire wheel
3.) Synthetic grease
4.) ????
5.) Profit

New seals if it's too rusty b/c that means they're leaking big time. No shop ever lubes them when they replace pads b/c they're dead beat mechanics (neither do the noob DIYers).

Like others said, clean and grease the pins. Only use a silicone-based paste like 3M or Sil-Glyde. Also clean any rust off the metal clips where the pads ride. If the piston doesn't go in, the caliper is junk and you need a new one.

And crack the bleeder so you don't mess up the ABS module and have a squishy pedal no matter how much you bleed. They already act stupid enough from just thinking about touching the brakes. Never did get any of my maximas completely firm and no air was ever introduced (same problem on other imports, had to super bleed an MDX to get it back). Hydraulics are wishy washy. We could rename them HRC.
