SE died on test drive!!!

This is a bizzare incident...

Over the last weekend, I test drove a 2k2 SE 6 speed. After a few blocks, the engine died. Above 2500 rpm the engine justs shuts down. The dealer traded places and the max had the same behavior. We limped back to the dealership and drove it straight to the service dept.

What gives?

Has anybody else seen something like this?

I hope that this is just random fluke.

Might be a random fluke or sound like the rental car style "idle rpms" sensor where if it goes past a certain rpms while in neutral and 0mph, it will shut off. Common in rental vipers, ferraris, lamborghinis. yeas I did rent a lamborghini once.

Dont think so, test drove a 2k2 6spd last week at the Gaithersburg Nissan in MD. And revved it to 5k in neutral at 0mph. No problems there.

In Vegas.... you have to be at least 30+ to rent a viper/ferrari/lambo, etc.. it cost around 400+ a day I think... depend on the model... I was so tempted once... but lost $$$ in the MGM... damn blackjack dealer almost clear the whole table out...

For a New GTS its $399 for a single day, $349 for multiday and you have to be 30.

- Vipers have very high accedent rates, for example you only have to be 25 to rent the near $800 per day Ferrari from the same place.

I talked to the owner at one and they said they would wave the age limit for me, I'm 23 and used to driving powerful cars, one of the cars I was considering had a 25 min age limit.

You can get older Viper RT/10s 93-96 for much cheaper. I'm going to vegas in either March or June, but I think I'll rent a Porsche Boxter.

If it is the MAF your car will not run right and not rev past 2500k.
