Hello Folks,

I have a chance to use either Goodyear, Monroe Muffler or Meineke for some services.

What specific services and parts (suspension, brakes, etc) would you recommend to be done by either or all of these places. In other words, would you trust Monroe or Goodyear with your brakes, etc?

Thanks very much, and looking forward to some inputs from you.

Ask friends & family for indy shop recommendations. In your neck of the woods, there are probably many.

Chain shops often have poor customer service and high prices.

Best thing is to DIY.

Yes, I know DIY and recommendation from friends for indy/private shops can be the best.

But I still need to know what best I can use these 3 shops for...?

cheers, MN

I will only ever go to Monroe for an alignment, otherwise I bust knuckles when I can. Last time they did my brakes and tires they used a prybar on all 4 of my rims, each rim had gash marks throughout the edges.

I have had brakes done by Firestone and Goodyear stores back when I drove company cars. They were not good experiences. Wheels locking up, car pulling when stepping on the brakes - stay way from them.

Often times these shops are very different from another even within the same brand - its based on the management and who works there. I'd go to an independent shop with good reviews. One of the best mechanics I've had in the past worked out of a Sunoco garage.
