Hey guys need some help i have a 2001 maxima 20th anniversary auto with locking diff, Transmission is done i have changed the solenoids and still no 2nd gear at wot.. or normal driving question is what transmissions from other maximas or i30s will work and would i need the transmission computer from whatever transmission i get or will my transmission ecu work thanks guy.

 

Welcome to the org. You can find another 5sp transmission from a 2000 or 2001 max, pretty sure an I30 would work too. According to the thread below any gearbox from a 4th or 5th gen will be a direct swap. I'm not an expert fyi, just relaying info I found by searching here.

edit: sorry that info is regarding a 5sp, not an auto (missed that in your post), but I'm sure the answer is in the forums somewhere if you search a bit

 

You shouldn't need any computer changes to go with another auto. Your best bet to keep the LSD would be to find one from another AE car.

This site will locate used parts all over the US and Canada. Shipping on heavy parts like this is actually pretty reasonable since it goes as freight.
