You may be in for the EGR tube cleaning then. If it's plugged, random misfires may occur.

 

Haven't heard about that so far. Can try it. A couple of other things. Replaced the pcv valve, too. Mechanic said the fuel/air mixture seems to be rich, he could smell gas. I'll search but what's involved? Thanks.
