Transmission Solenoid Problem !!!!!
Transmission Solenoid Problem !!!!!
I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima.
I was having problems with my transmission. Hard shifts, slippage in drive.
All the gears worked, and, shifted. With the exception of reverse. No reverse. I did a lot of exploration on what the problem might be.
I read, that most likely. It was the Solenoids.
I ordered new solenoids from eBay. Installed them today.
The installation, didn't take that long. However. Now.
Only 1st gear works.
No reverse,no 2nd, no Drive.
It just revs, as though the vehicle was in idle.
Can the solenoids be defective.
I NEED HELP. BADLY.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe one of the line pressure ball bearings and/or spring popped out without being noticed. See pages 314 and on, especially 316.

I remember reading that one person replaced solenoids and the trans didn't shift. He reseated the solenoids.

Thanks DennisMik for the reply.
I didn't catch ball, when I removed the valve body from the underside of the transmission. So. It's possible, that, The catch *****, did get away from me, upon disassembly. Looks like I did other stuff wrong, according to the diagram, that
is show in the AT manual. Thanks for that link by the way.
From the diagram. It looks like there are two springs that go into the lower
valve body. The oil cooler relief, valve spring (with check ball), and the spring, that, is shown to be in/around the same position as the, Line Pressure Solenoid.
I didn't separate the upper/lower valve bodies.
I think I'm going to startup. Now that I have a better idea of what's going on.
Once again.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. The dimensions are at the specs section of the AT manual.
I have another question. I put everything back together, the right way this time. I hope.
Just one concern. That servo release return spring, doesn't really attach to anything.
It is supposed to go inside the servo release accumulator piston. It then, rests on the
accumulator support plate, which is secured to the lower valve body, by a bolt.
My question is. How do you get that spring in the right place ?
It's just free floating !!
I placed some ATF fluid on the accumulator support plate, in order to keep the spring upright, in place, while I attached the lower valve body to the upper.
DennisMik, Any input here ?

I have a similar problem

Would that cause this issue? I didn't take apart the vb i only changed the solenoids. When i took The old line pressure solenoid out no springs came out. I removed the old solenoid and replaced it without any spring coming out.
what would make this Rev randomly?
