Are the connections the same and will it be plug and play?

As long as the 2003 has Bose as well I'd think it should... No guarantees though. If the 2003 didn't originally have Bose then you will be missing the amps/sub. I doubt that would work out well for you.

Yeah the 03 has stock bose, anyone swapped 00-01 into a 02-03? The one I am looking at has a problem with the 6CD changer, so I figured why not get the better looking 00-01 to swap.

save your disappointment and put in a whole new system and speakers ... then side back and enjoy the quality sound from a good system

My 2000 has what I think is a good system, 03 similar/same I am guessing. What brand of aftermarket speakers do you have?
