My 2000 se alarm settings got reset?!

Few days ago, I was hooking up a 8awg power wire to my car battery + terminal with nothing connected... all of the sudden, I see small sparks and then the car alarm went off. I didn't know how to turn the alarm off.. so I just disconnect the whole car battery overnight and went home and did some research to see how to turn the alarm off. The next morning, I connect the battery and the alarm went off again so I hit the unlock button and the alarm shut off. But I noticed something different with my car locking alarm. I guess something might have reset? Because There was a red light ALWAYS ON b4 this reset happen.. the light will stay red no matter what... even when the car is off (I will attach a picture) and now whenever I remove the key from the ignition and close the door, the honk will beep at me one time and the headlight flash once. The red light will flash very fast for one min After 1 min, with all the door closed, it will beep again and it will auto arm the security but doesn't auto lock the door .. the red light will blink once a sec (this never happen b4 the reset). Also, when locking the car, the headlights flashes 2 times and beep twice. Before it was only one flash and one beep. Is there a way I can go back to the old locking settings? I bought this car used 2 months ago and everything was fine. I used to be able to lock car and still be able to open the trunk without triggering the security alarm.

2000 se 61k miles

Any idea?

Thanks,

Ck

that's an aftermarket alarm system, you need to figure out what aftermarket system you have and where if any momentary push button or toggle button are used or push button sequence on the aftermarket remote. If the previous owner didn't give you any remotes to the aftermarket system you might as well just disconnect the whole aftermarket unit and just use the factory remote controls

Thanks, I will see if I can see what aftermarket alarm I have. The original owner gave me an original key fob.

Update!

Ok, I have removed the dash panel and found a black box... seems like it's an unbranded aftermarket alarm system. I disconnected all the harness and the alarm went back to stock.

Thanks for the help!
