Bad solenoid?

I just replaced the variable valve timing solenoid. On the top of the part, there is a relief valve fitting of sorts with a bearing inside. When I start the engine, oil starts flowing out of this. Is this a bad part? What actually activates this fitting?

I'm not familiar with that part, but that can't possibly be a relief valve. You would never want motor oil to come out of that passage. I'd take it back, and I'd be sure to get an OEM replacement.

I never seen a relief valve for a timing solenoid , yet you should not be leaking oil out of that. That certainly can not be right
