CD player---Stock Bose?
CD player---Stock Bose?
Hi Friends,
03, 3.5.
Sometimes my CD player works,...and sometimes it doesn't. When i load a CD, it makes lots of clicks and the often will say "Check CD."
Is there any type of cleaner that will help fix this issue, or is the Player on its way out?
Thanks Everyone~!

its not worth putting your cds in, move on to media from past 5 years. MP3s on mp3 players.
if you have a cassette tape on the stock bose, then get a tape convertor and you will be on your way.
i miss CDs sometimes, but rarely anymore in the past 3 years.

If you use CD's and tapes like I do, then I think the best course of action would be to swap in an 00-01 bose unit. 17 years and no problems, also the 98' bose never had any issues, but that is not the same size as the 5th gens.

I fought with Bose failures through 3 generations of Maximas (3rd, 4th & 5th) and finally gave up. These Bose units rarely last over 10 years, so replacing a defective one with a used one usually doesn't give you a long lasting replacement. Buy an aftermarket radio (Pioneer, Sony, JVC, etc) and be done with it.
There were some people using Bose units from later years that were made by someone else (Pioneer I think). You would have to search for those threads to get the year models they were used in originally.

What is pandora? Is it like spotify?
those cassette adaptors can work beautifully IF you can get a good one. I used to use one to play Sirius radio through. The first adaptor I bought wasn't very good. It was my 3rd adaptor that was great. Funny thing (or sad) was that I only paid about $3 for it. The more expensive ones were garbage.
I have been using this one for a couple of years, but it looks like it has been discontinued which has drove up the price.

Perhaps this one is a good bet
Edit: Nevermind, here is the american link
I have been using that one for years and no problems.

+1 I got rid of that crap the day after I bought my max, and replaced it with a Pioneer double din....I swear it brought new life to those bose speakers, the sound is so crisp, clear, and clean, whereas the bose system seem too muffled to tolerate....it's been sitting boxed up in my garage ever since
