My 5th gen sputters and backfires help!!

HELP!! my 01 sputters and back fires and just won't pick up speed!it went away for awhile but it's doing it again. any ideas on what the problem could be thanks in advance

Is there a way to find out for sure that is the maf?

yep...swap it with a known working one.

take it out and clean it with maf cleaner it might make it better for now.
