Should I cancel my 2k2 6 spd HLSD order?

Having some difficulties with my order, and now after hearing some of the recent issues on this board, considering canceling and looking at other brands. Here is the whole ugly story.

Ordered Dec 3 with deposit paid, dealer said will be produced early January, arrive early February. Two weeks ago tells me it has "dropped off the schedule, doesn't know why". Never calls back. I call Nissan 800#, they will research. Nissan 800# calls yesterday and says car arrived in port Jan 24, will be at dealer next week. Dealer calls me that afternoon, "no that is the wrong car, your car won't be here until late March early April".

Does any one else think 4 months is too long to wait for a Maxima? Something just doesn't smell right with this whole thing.

cancel, get your money back, and go to another dealer and order again. I just ordered mine last week and will have it last week of Feb.

Something tells me that "Your" car at the port on its way to the dealership is being sold for a higher $$$ than you paid so yours "did not arrive yet". You should ask them why its not your car and ask to see it when it arrives because you might be interested in that one instead (regardless of what they tell you). I think its the dealer in this case playing games, not Nissan. Although Nissan has been making you guys waiting for HLSD wait a L O N G t i m e......

I agree...they a jacking you around...

since cars are tracked by order numbers and VIN #'s and Nissan knows where it is/was, the dealer is up to something.

Dealer says he misread the sheets, the one coming in is Black with Frost leather interior (I ordered blue with black cloth). I really don't want to start all over with the order process/negotiation, etc.

Think there will be HLSD cars on the lots by February that I could just find something close enough? I think I'll go get my deposit back, but tell them I still want the car and see what they say.

I've been going to this dealer for like 4 years for service on my 240SX, and they've been great (I know, hard to believe). But obviously the sales dept. really sucks.

Yeah that's what you think and what the dealer is telling you. I would not be surprised if you don't receive it until late March, early April. I just ordered mine on the 25th and they told me 45-60days and it may even be longer due to the demand for the HLSD.

That's what I don't get, I ordered mine almost 60 days before you, but quoted same delivery date??? I saw the sheet back in early January that showed my order with January build/Feb delivery. Makes me nervous.

its because there were all those people who ordered their cars in august, september, and october. now that those back-ordered cars are being delivered they can handle the new orders more effectively since more and more are being built as more and more are ordered. dont worry.

I thought about trading in my 2k for a 2k2 6-speed hlsd, but the wait is horrible and a little pricey so i've decided to save my pennies for a Skyline R-34 spec V Nismo from Motorex. OH yes I will be mine.

What was your price?

if you got your car within a couple hundred of invoice I say stick it out. Also, make them throw in three free oil changes to make it right, believe me they will.

I'm in the same No-Nissan boat, for what that might be worth...ordered HLSD Maxima at the end of November, contracting for February delivery, and now am told it will be April before it gets here. No explanation offered, that's just the way it is...it all seems pretty weird to me. By the way, like you, I ordered Majestic Blue with black cloth (HLSD, mats, splash guards, no other options)...do you suppose our color choice might have something to do with the delay?

Don't know what it is, they have offered no explanation...except delay is due to the HLSD option.
I'm going to just keep it on order, and if I can find an HLSD equipped on a lot before mine gets here I'll go for it.

I am not sure about your dealer but the car is wonderful.

My first Datsun was a 69 510 and I raced 240Zs. I think this is the best yet.

Totally different experience

You're probably going to hate me but I had a totally different experience! I went through Autobytel and said what I wanted : Maxima SE, 6-speed w/HLSD, leather, black w/black leather, sunroof, Bose. I was contacted by a local dealer (fleet manager)who found almost the exact same car I wanted (WITH HLSD) within two days. I just picked it up tonight. It also came with the Meridian package which I didnt' really want but I couldn't pass it up. paid $100 over invoice and got the $1000 rebate.

have you called another dealer?

at least call another dealer and see two thing:

1. do they expect HLSD in by end of March?
2. will they sell at invoice?

I'm paying exactly invoice price (according to Edmunds) and could have it by last week of Feb but opted for Mid-March (finances... go stock, go!)

Why wait until April? Would it be worth it to travel even a few hundred miles to save weeks? Call around for better deal and better availability. A friend bought his Mercedes in NJ, I went to Sweden for a Volvo... it's worth the savings (imho).

Am I correct in assuming that a high-volume dealer will be more likely to get your car in on time than a lower-volume one?
