Cant fix Nissan maxima rear suspension noise

hey, I have a 2000 nissan maxima I replaced the rear struts and the sway bar links/ stabilizer links the car still makes a thud / knocking noise in the rear you only hear it when going over bumps and cant make the sound yourself by bouncing the car up and down etcc. Another interesting thing i found is that if i have 2-3 people sitting in the back the noise IS GONE !! how strange is that so what exactly is the problem .

Look at all the bushings back there and make sure the spare tire/jack is tight.

Rear shocks were replaced with new mounting hardware Im guessing? Check trailing arm bushings and lateral link bushings. Not sure what links you are talking about that go in the rear.

What some people don't realize is, some mechanics don't like the way some car owner's are.

So they think it is fun to fill the hollows of the car in the rear and other area's with junk. And you will always hear sound's and won't be able to pin point them.

You know how they say a rude customer gets there food spit in, at a restaurant .

Well they think it is fun to fill the hollows of the car in the rear and other area's with junk. And you will always hear sound's and won't be able to pin point them.

This car (in the thread below)i bought. When cutting and checking area's. I am finding so much junk in the hollows .

I can tell it was placed there to drive someone nuts.

1. pad locks
2. golf tees
3. pennys
4. used battery's
5. pebbles
6. nails
7. screws nuts and bolts
8. other things i can't remember

They were placed there, for a fact. Every bump must have sounded awful.

I recall a thread about rear noise and it turned out to be the top mounting of the strut. I can't recall details but I think that it was something you could see from in the trunk, not from underneath. Give that some close scrutiny.
