AE blank key
AE blank key
Just an unusual question that I have an AE key you get for the 20th AE. I was looking at getting a replacement key for my 2001 since I lost one of my key, and the dealer has an non AE key for sale, will it work on AE ignition and vice versa? Because the AE key at the dealer is 122 bucks and the Non AE is 37 bucks, I did not want to sink in 122 for AE key. Chime in on any experience or input because I was looking at the Nissan portal store part site and it said about the attribute of my car for AE key must be used because it a IVAC and Bose system and etc... Sound like pure B.S. check out the link and give me your input on this https://parts.nissanusa.com/nissanpa...wAllparts=true
The only difference between the AE key and the non-AE key is the plastic head. The metal shaft and the chip in the plastic head are the same for all versions of the car. If you want the AE version of the key you will probably only find it at a dealer.
If that is not a mandatory thing, then talk to your local locksmiths. Most of them do automobile keys and will sell the key, cut the key and program the new key into the car's ECU for a lot less than the dealer. Call a couple and get prices.
Note that that the process for programming a key into the car's ECU will first erase all the keys previously programmed in. So have all your keys with you.
