350z intake on a 2002 i35/maxima build Updated 9/20/17

So this will be my first post so forgive me if its not good. I purchased a 2002 350z intake manifold and the lower intake plenum (I think thats what its called) for $80. Im going to be trying to install it into a 2002 infiniti i35, which from my research is just a re-badged 3.5 maxima. I know there will be hood clearance issues and I know Im gonna need a tune. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Do some searching here and the other tuning sections.
It's been done and I don't think there were many gains to be had, if any.
You'll have to cut, move and weld the throttle body flange to fit the FWD application.
There are far better mods you can do with the intake than that.

So I've been thinking about the hood clearance issues and I thought why not just shave down the base of the manifold and lower part. I outlined what would be shaved in black in one of the pics. I am worried that the valve covers won't let me shave too much off tho.

So this is what would be shaved down
Credit for that photo goes to Ammfab on iimgur

Here are some pics of 4DRVIPER's attempt at it. It shows the space between the valve covers and manifold.

PS never found out if he was successful. If anyone knows drop a comment please, thanks.

So everything showed up yesterday and I got around to opening it. I was surprised by how heavy, small, and dirty it was but Im just happy I scored it for $80. Heres some pics

This is how it showed, I thought I got scammed at first but then I flipped it over...

...and boom.

A bit dirty

This part was clean, almost looked new

Gasket and everything, only missing a few screws and 10mm nuts

Installing this will take a solid weekends worth of work. Im just gonna try porting the lower half right now and get on it this weekend. Updates to come.
