How best to put her to bed one final time?
Well it finally happened. After engine problem after engine problem our Infiniti I30 (maxima) finally bit the dust. Wife ran it low on oil and now it starts and runs, but sounds like you're beating on it with a hammer.
So to all of you that finally put your baby to bed one last time, what was the best option? We could donate it to the blind and end up with a tax write-off. Or we've toyed with the idea of just putting it up on craigslist for $500 as non-running to see if anyone needs one for parts. Or push her off a cliff, I guess. I just hate to see her go to waste when everything on her runs but the motor. Heck, I just put new engine mounts in her!
Anyway, I'm open to any suggestions you guys might be able to share.
Thanks!

Yeah you could list it for $500 or so. Engine swaps on these cars are easy and relatively inexpensive. If the rest of the car is in decent condition, someone might scoop it up and throw a new engine in it for a cheap DD. Sorry to hear it go - I'll keep mine running until someone hits me and totals it. There's no car like it on the market today.

Idk what kind of engine problems you could possibly have on a 3.0 besides normal stuff like coils/maf. Depending on the amount of new parts and condition of the body, it's stupid easy to swap these engines.
I recently pulled engine/tranny, b/c women can't drive and put it another car. That's time consuming, b/c it had to come out of another car first. When you order one and it shows up at your house or pick it up from freight company...easy peasy.
You don't have any friends/family that would help you on the cheap? Hell, what's a 3.0 engine cost, 300 bucks?

car-part.com Call the ones nearby if they don't have a price listed. I did a quick look and saw a couple for 200 with 13x,000 (so 300 with shipping). Ask for compression test numbers. If they didn't test, then it's more of a gamble for sure.
You can also scope out your pick n pull type yards and see if you find a nice donor (pull valve cover to check condition). Those are like 175 bucks. See if they pull it or take some battery powered tools (saw, grinder) and cut that ***** out. They have big hoists.
I bought my last two 3.5s on ebay LOL, but those were lucky grabs.
