Pigtail on Alternator for 02/03 Maxima - 2 wires or 4?
My mechanic found that the wires on the old pigtail had been cut off on a 2002 Infiniti I35. This vehicle is identical to the 2002 and 2003 Nissan Maxima.
We ordered a new pigtail on Ebay and got it installed. However the pigtail had four wires. My mechanic cut off two of those wires. Right now it drives fine but the battery light stays on even though the alternator shows healthy voltage and the battery is fully charged.
If you have a 2002 or 2003 Maxima/I35 can you check to see if the alternator plug-in on top has two wires or four? If it has four, can you tell me where each one goes?
Thanks very much!
Steve

The nissan alternator only uses 2 wires as you mechanic said. One wire is to make the alternator charge and the other wire is for the light in the instrument cluster. The wire harness piece you bought on ebay was not for a nissan.
Your mechanic made a mistake and cut the wire for the dash light off. Get the harness that Lontar1 posted and get the job done right.
