Are these 02 HLSD pedals the same as AE?
These are the standard HLSD pedals. They are in 02 unique to the HLSD cars. I assume they are like the AEs and that the nonHLSD have rubber pedals?
I agree that it would look better lowered but I probably won't cause it is my year round "business" car and needs to be normal when loaded with clients.

See5,
What's your impression of the Trans/Clutch combo in the Max. On the ones I've test driven, I absolutely hated it, felt like I was in a kia manuel, so light and rubbery. But you know how it is when your used to the firm feel of a C5. Did it bother you, or do you just adjust to it over time?

Here is a shot from my A.E., only difference I see is the floor mat.

I only have 500 miles so far, and yes as expected the shifter/clutch is very different than the Ripper/02Z06 setup in the Vette. I find that it is light on the clutch and very predictable in shift performance. I am pleased with the shifting as I was not expecting anything like the C5. The C5 shifting is not one of its strong points in my mind due to the rear mounted trans and associated linkage.
One thing that stands out is how quiet and smooth the whole drivetrain is in the Max. You really have to watch the tach as there is really no other feedback as to what is going on, particularly if the radio is on. That takes some getting used to. My 97 Maxima was less isolated in feel. Maybe the drive by wire is part of it.

Well then, I am afraid the AE > 02 upgrade is a bit more than 5 hp even though I am sure the HLSD sucks up a few HP.

The 5hp comment was just referring to the magical 5hp increase the AE produces along with the I30 which is generally assumed is a result of Nissan black magic.
