How to remove PCM?
How to remove PCM?
Hi I'm fighting the dreaded p505 and need to remove the PCM from the car so I can try putting in a new sta509 or failing that replace the unit.
There is nothing in the FSM on how to remove/replace the pcm, and it is buried all the way in the back (front?) of the center console next to the firewall. I have successfully disconnected the electrical connector but the box itself appears welded in place - it won't budge.
Anyone here successfully remove a pcm from a 2001 max (without the aid of an air hammer) and if so how did you do it? TIA
EDIT: I am looking on page EC-449 of the FSM. If anyone knows just the page number in the FSM that describes r&r of the PCM, just type that if you don't want to/have time to type out the procedure itself. Again TY.

Despite the overwhelming outpouring of help, support and encouragement I have received on this thread, I have decided that to repair this car would NOT be worth it, both in time and money investment, so tomorrow I will send the 2001 max to the crusher.
Once again, thank you members of maxima org so much from the bottom of my heart for going so above and beyond my simple request for a simple procedure, and taking time out of your excruciatingly busy and important day to generate the excellent amount of helpful knowledge and actionable advice found right here on this thread.
You guys are just so, so cool.
