3.5 into 01

Can somebody direct me to a thread on how to do a 3.5 swap? I have a 2002 with lots of body issues that was supposed to get a motor and have an opportunity to get a 2001 for dirt cheap with a blown motor. Is there anything that is going to need some modifications? Or can I just swap the front end over? I have a good 3.5 ready to go into a chassis.

It's doable, mods are required. IMO you'd be better off waiting for a decent 2002+ with a blown motor. Even drivable ones are cheap enough these days

Would I have to do any welding to make those modifications? I can still back out of the sale but it wouldn't look so good on my end. I have enough tools and dont mind doing some drilling and harness swaps.

No welding required. 6 speed swap would require a new trans mount that can be bolted on.

You have 2 options.

1: Swap everything over, engine, wiring, ecu, trans, emissions etc. for a full 3.5 swap.

2: Engine swap with 3.0 timing for a hybrid swap.

Does the 3.5 bolt right up to the 3.0 transmission?

Yes.

You really need to do some reading. 3.5 swaps have been done and documented countless times.

I'll try searching a little harder. I was having some trouble finding a well documented swap with the keywords I was using. I have one concern though, would I still be able to pass inspection in NY with a new motor? I might be wrong but I feel like the 3.5 PCM wouldn't communicate with the modules in the 3.0 chassis. Im sure that info is on the forums, though.
