Hello I am new to this forum and I am not to sure how this works but I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima se manual and the problem I am having right now is the car is sputtering and skipping when driving or in idle.However Sometimes when it is in idle or I am driving the sputter and skipping does not occur. It rides ok. Now when the car starts sputtering/skipping it becomes harder to drive. It is very sluggish and I have to press the gas a little more to gain a little ground. The idle of the engine is around 750-800 when its idling and driving ok but the idle is around 600 to 700 its sputtering and skipping. It goes in between 600-800 when its sputtering It does it randomly and can be like that all day and sometimes it may sputter in the beginning when I first start the car and begin to drive it then it goes away. For example ill start the car and shortly after it starts sputtering and ill go ahead and drive it like it is. Ill get on the highway and get my speed up to 50-55 miles per hour and put the car in 5th gear 2500 rpm with the sputter, suddenly after a few moments of driving the car shakes the sputter and return to normal. It does this most when I am traveling and this same speed and rpm going up a hill in 5th gear. after a moment of driving on the incline or hill highway at 50- 55 miles per hour at 2500 rpm in 5th gear it will randomly shake the sputtering and drive normal up the hill. But this is random it is just more likely to shake the sputter in that situation. I put premium fuel in the car and I get terrible fuel economy with the car. I do know the car has an exhaust leak behind the first cat coming from the manifold in the front of the engine from the installation of this current engine I got put in January. I believe some gaskets are missing the car is a lot louder new maf,valve covers,alternator,spark plugs and coils boots all new 02 sensors new cat after the front exhaust manifold and many more.The check engine light is on with three codes P0158(02 SENSOR CIRCUT HIGH VOLTAGE BANK 2 SENSOR 2)P0113(INTAKE AIT TEMP SENSOR 1 CIRCUT HIGH INPUT)P0328(KNOCK SENSOR 1 CIRCUT HIGH INPUT BANK 1) when the car sputters I smell carbon monoxide outside the car and inside the cabin when its sputtering and I accelerate hard. When It sputters the car runs and smell like a go kart and very undesirable to drive because of the lack of power.

Based on your trouble codes, you should check the wiring to your MAF. That's where I'd start. Possibly either a bad MAF (IAT is built in) or a short in the wiring.
