Rear Brake Caliper Differences?

I need to replace the brake calipers in the rear of my Maxima. However, when I look online, they have a style that says "to 12/2002" and one slightly different style that says "from 1/2003." Considering these are both for the same car, would I be able to use either one or would I have to use the exact same style as I have on the car now?

I'm assuming the style that is from 1/2003 is just an updated version, but I really don't know. It says both are compatible for the 2003 Nissan Maxima. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

The tag inside my door says 7/2002.

Chances are the newer version is for the 6th gen. It's easy to see the difference. It won't have the parking brake mechanism. It will not fit pre 04.

Thank you! I think that answered my question.

I don't understand why the part shops and rock auto have them both listed under 2003 Nissan Maxima though. I can clearly tell the difference between the two now that you said something about the parking brake mechanism.

Cars are sold by model year. Parts are sold by manufactur date. The confusion happens often when a new generation is made or a mid year refresh.
