2001 Max loses power...NEED HELP

I was at an drive thru ATM earlier tonight, and my car suddenly lost power; not sure why; luckily I was only 2 miles from home so was able to drag it home

Symptoms include intermittent flashing all the lights on dash especially when I'm at a stop light with car jerking a little
Had to turn off the radio and all lights in order to get home. Luckily, there was little traffic at 1 am in the morning and I was able to catch all green lights till I got home
When I got home, and parked, lights started flashing again; had no luck rolling up automatic windows

After 30 minutes hiatus, tried to start car and it would not start....getting a clicking sound although lights come on the dash

Wondering if it is a faulty alternator, and not sure how Im going to get her to the shop

Thanks

Charge the battery. These car will drive several miles on just a battery. Enough to get you to the shop. First check and make sure your battery and alternator connections are tight. Power and ground.

Sounds like alternator is ****ed and battery is drained. If you jump start it and it dies after removing cables, then there ya go. Even if it stays running check the voltage. If it's not 14-15V, then it's bad (b/c 13s will drop even lower with load, which you can test just by turning on all lights/radio).

Recharge battery, check connections, clean dirty connections and verify a bad alternator by checking output voltage per other posts. I had a similar situation and had my alternator rebuilt by a local shop. I don't trust alternators from box stores. Shop carefully, NAPA might be OK. Search for other posts on alternator quality if you need one.

Thanks for all the responses....will check and attempt to recharge battery and alternator on Monday; in the meantime, it'll just sit there
