VQ35DE swap????
VQ35DE swap????
I did some Google search but didn't get definitive info.
i see people talking about this vq35hr motor but find it's only in rwd cars, I seen the thread about the 09+ VQ35DE swap. If I want to use the evt I need to get a ecu with the motor? So I could just swap in a 09+ VQ35DE, do the mods stated by nisformance and what? What is the gain? I want a newer motor either way.

I have used both search engines, even bing.com. I found some guidelines from nisformance and 4dsc.com. but they only mention the ecu is needed if I use the evt from the 09+ motor. Also that it don't hurt not using it. I plan on using a 09+ engine, I just was hoping someone had some experience in it, that I could chat with while performing the swap.
It is an incorrect designation to our application, a widely used term in the Maxima community referring to 2nd generation FWD, VQ35DE motors (09 +). HR is a designation specific to performance line, RWD Z cars, G cars, etc. Not sure why this came about, nor do I really care. See the VQ35 wiki for the nuanced changes made for high revolution and such. Your presumptions are correct.
You can't just swap ECUs. There are multiple incompatible devices the 7th gen ECU relies upon; IPDM, ABS, BCM, NATS, cluster and climate control. The only way to use EVT is to use a standalone ECU or a custom piggyback solution
People here have used Haltech to control EVT. It looks like you can't get Haltech new anymore but Surratt/nisperformance might still make a pnp harness.
