Move Key, Computer, and Immobilizer to Another Maxima?

I have a 2000 Maxima and a 2001 Maxima.

I'm trying to avoid paying for a new key and the programming for it at the Nissan dealer.

If I were to pull the computer, ignition cylinder, and Immobilizer from one car and put them in the other car, would that actually work?

Thanks.

They only charge $60. You would have to change the ecu. That's what get programed I believe.

Yes i do it all the time .

just make sure you don't put 2000 stuff in a non egr 2001 maxima.

Stick with the 2001 non EGR ECU. You can use I30 stuff also.

Just recently i put 2001 Maxima non EGR stuff in a 2000 I30 with EGR. So using non EGR stuff rids the 2000 of EGR. Added bonus.
Just get ECU immobilizer key and ignition and your all set.

I have a key and a ignition for a 00-01 maxima,i would just need to program to the ecu. Hope your close.

Where do you live i can do it for you if your close.

Program with NDS2. It's almost 2020 and people act like this software doesn't exist.

Hell, if you're savvy at all, it can be free (minus 10 bucks for cable).

People who don't work on cars ,aren't going to buy tools to work on cars. That's why there's mechanics.

I'm not close. I'm in Dallas. But thank you for the offer.

What exact items do I need from my 2001 to put on my 2000? I can pull the ECU and the ignition cylinder. I actually don't know where the immobilizer is. Never had to pull one.

Both cars are manual so no EGR.

If necessary, I can program the ECU, but I shouldn't have to if I'm using the same key, ignition cylinder, and ECU from the 2001 on the 2000, correct?

I have software for my E46 M3 but not for my Maxima.

If I swap the items I mentioned from the 2001 to the 2000, will I still need to program the key to the car?

The immobilizer is bolted to the ignition,it's a black box right on top where the key goes in. You will see it ,when you take off the steering column plastic.

You just need the key, ignition, immobilizer and ecu . And then no programming is needed. You have all that stuff now,so no sense going to dealer.
