2002 Infiniti I35

Anyone drive one of these yet? Seems like a much improved version of the Max, with a real rear suspension. At around $30k I think I'll at least drive one. If it seems like a Max I will pass.
The new Autoweek has an article on it and it is very favorable.

Seriously. What car doesn't come with a real rear suspension?

The I35 is the same exact car the Maxima is except it's got a different front and rear fascia. A bit more luxury inside and of course the Infinity badge and service.

Performance-wise you'll get more of the Maxima because it's a bit lighter. But everything else on the I35 screams "MAXIMA!'

I test drove the I35 and almost got it, but once you dump options on it you've got a 34K-35K Maxima. Also I felt no enjoyment or sportiness when driving it.

Save your money and get a Max or wait for the G35.

Get a fully loaded Max and save the extra money for mods.
Or better yet get a 6spd Maxima and save even more money for mods!

Mods need for sure for the Sporty feel you want:

Lowered
fstb
rsb
FrankenCar intake

These will get you started.

Those mods barely even add up to $1000.00US (depends on how you lower).

That is a deal!

The main advantages of an I35 are:
  • Better quality control as it is built on a different assembly line (it is the way the Maxima should be built in the first place)
  • Better warranty
  • Q45-quality leather
  • Dealership & actual Customer Service

It's all about what you need. If you prefer to not be looked at like you're 2 years old if you have an issue with your vehicle that isn't of your doing, then the I35 is worth the extra $$$. If you are a loner and vow never to see a dealer again unless your tranny or engine have siezed, then go with the Max.

Unfortunately, if you want a stick, you have to go with Nissan.

I think he's confused with the G35, the Maxima and I35 are built on the same assembly line and will continued to be when production shifts to Tennesee. The G35 is nice but it's only available with an auto.......save and get the Max .

hmmm...I have a 2k2 I35...the major plus is the service, warranty, bit quieter than max, IMO the wheels, and the Q45 leather. Makes you think that you are not actually driving a max. But both are extremely nice cars in my opinion. I was gonna get a 2k2 6spd, but nissan wanted only 200 less than what I got my I35 for... The main dowside that i see is the extra weight! oh yeah, and I hate the Bose "sub"! Had to disconnect it and drop the 10 from my '98 max in the trunk...major improvement.

Yes guys, I screwed up, I ment the new G35.
Also read an article on it in the new Automobile mag. Was favorable, though no performance numbers or weight numbers.
They will be here in March, they say.

Of course if you did get the I-35, and begin modding it, you will take alot of people by surprise. I do daily, especially those rice boys.
