Paint chip solution

I bought my car in July 2001 and now I have over 15-20 paint chips on the hood of the car. I wanted everyone opinion on the following solution:

- I get the hood repainted
- Get the clear bra 3M stuff put on it so that it won't chip

Will the paint(black) match to the rest of the car?

Thanks,
Jay

Not sure about matching paint (I am assuming reapplied paint not color underneath the 3M stuff) but remember to make sure the paint "cures" long enough before 3M application. Not sure how bad "uncured" paint is or what the ramifications are.

BTW, I have the 3M and it has done fantastic.

I agree with colonel about letting the paint cure before applying 3M. The paint shop should be able to give you info about curing. I had to have the front bumper on my AE repainted (it is black) and it turned out great. I have heard thst the clear coat finishes are easier to match. Also, becuz it's new, it will not have faded at all.
Find a quality paint shop. IMO

3M??

I just had my hood repainted yesterday bacause of HUGE moisture sports under the paint. Have a lot of people started to use the 3M covering? I was thinking about doing something before all the chips come back

I just received my 3M kit from www.xpel.com. I am planning on installing the film myself. I checked around and everyone wants $300+ to install the kit. I've had my Max for 6 months and I already have 6 small chips on the hood. At this rate my car will look like I drove thru Afghanistan in a few years time.

How much did you pay to have the hood repainted?

Did the color of the hood match well with rest of the car?

Yes the paint matches just fine. I didn't have to pay. Nissan covered the paint under my warrenty. I had big white moisture spot under the paint on my hood. It was about the size of an apple and it was there the day I picked up the car...too bad I picked up my car at night.
