2003 Maxima Transmission Issue

My Maxima goes into limp mode randomly. The only applicable code (others were fixed and it still went into limp mode) was a 3rd gear code. I took it to the Nissan dealer for diagnosis. After 4 days they claim it is a bad transmission. Does this make sense? Can a transmission cause a Maxima into limp mode? Could it be something fixable without replacing the transmission?

Make sure your electronic engine mounts are disconnected (I assume your car is an auto).

Yes.
Transmission-like problems such as "unable to shift into higher gears" may occur as a result of worn-out engine mounts that trigger signals to prevent the vehicle from gaining higher speeds. That's why I said earlier "make sure your electronic engine mounts are disconnected".

What is the code?? We can go from there and figure out sumthing. Engine mounts have nothing to do with the transmission shifting gears.

I would bet solenoid, but who knows. A shop will always say bad tranny, so they can make big money LOL. As if someone is gonna spend the value of the car on a tranny.
