Need Advice: Thinking of buying my old Maxima back

So, I have been reading this forum for a long time and would like some advice about a Maxima I used to own. It's a 2001 SE I purchased new and had for 17 yrs, tt was a great car and I took very good care of it and sold it mainly because the paint was fading and the expense to paint it exceeded the value of the car, I regretted selling almost immediately. I sold it to someone I know who had it for about 2 yrs before having an accident and damaging the front pumper and hood at which point they sold it. It recently showed up on CL for sale and definitly needs some work, the hood has been replaced but both the front and rear bumper covers need to be replaced and it needs a really good cleaning, I never let it get as dirty as it is now. I have this strange attachment to this car and have a desire to "rescue" it from its current state. I did take a look at it and test drive it and it still drives great just doesn't look great, the seller is asking too much based on it's current state and I made him a lower offer which he turned down, I did not mention I was the original owner when I went to look at it although he did mention several time how the original owner must have taken very good care if it. It has been listed for 18 days now and he has dropped the price closer to what I offered. Would you but back a car you sold? Should I just let it go and move on?
Here is the listing.
