Maxima factory nav replacement HELP

I might be missing it but I can’t seem to find anything on how to get rid of the factory navigation in my 02 SE Max. I’ve seen many say it’s a pain to do and in some ways just won’t be able to do anything different but in my opinion there’s always a way. My factory navigation is cool to look at but let’s be honest finding buttons that constantly fall off is getting old and honestly quite rare to find. I got lucky a couple times but not this time, I’m ready to move on. Is there ANY way to replace the climate control to a standard and put a aftermarket double din in place of the nav. I know to get a dash kit for a aftermarket radio, no problem. I know the wiring is far complicated knowing it’s integrated in the navigation screen. But I know I’m not the only one going through this and honestly not wanting to get a completely different max just for a stupid issue like this. Anybody got anything on this?

from what I see online the navigation setup is way different than all the other radio options on these cars. the normal climate control unit goes where your tape player would be.

I think the main issue you will have to overcome is the climate control unit. all other versions have a separate climate control unit and there were 2 different types available. between those 2 types they use use 2 different resistor modules for the blower. if your lucky your climate control wires might match one of the other 2 types.

the center vent is another thing that may have to be changed out as well depending on which climate control may work.

my car came with the non Bose full size CD player with basic climate control so I was eventually able to switch to the OEM double DIN center vent..

this is my setup here

Correct, climate control is the biggest factor here. Relocating the climate control in place of where my tape player is now is no issue but can it be wired correctly with a standard climate control out of a non navigation model? I have a spare climate control from a previous max. All the same controls as the navigation model just mounts in the standard location. But the fan speed is my biggest worry. Fan speed is on the nav screen while as a button setup on my spare. Could it be wired correctly?

Godfather did it but did not go to into too much detail.

A quick look at the FSM wiring diagram for the climate control shows the navigation and auto climate sensors and wiring are similar.

How good are you with wiring?
