another throw out bearing

what is up with these throw out bearings?

this is like the 4th or 5th one that went out on me over the course of 10 years. I've never ran any heavy duty race clutches, just decent brand replacement kits and most recently I went with an M-Pact 350Z/G35 standard replacement clutch and pressure plate with National throw out bearing.

does anyone make a heavier duty throw out bearing for the 6 speed?

I splurged a bit on my exhaust the other day and took it up to 3" and today my throw out bearing goes out picking up my kids. looks like the 2nd gen swap will be going in sooner than planned.

for the 3.0

All hit or miss, the throw out bearing that came in my M-pact clutch kit (not sure which company bearing was in the kit), didn't even last 9 months before it suddenly just siezed up on me one day in heavy traffic, the bearing cut into the fingers of the clutch pressure plate and basically fused everything together. Pretty much had to start the car in gear to get car out of left lane, that little event eventually cost me a tranny, tranny did last another year but I know that tranny never ran right after that day of trying to get the car home.

Had another clutch kit from advance auto that also failed after about a year, again bearing just decides to siezed but sliced into the fingers of the clutch pressure plate, got lucky that time, still had enough clutch movement to release and be able to get the car home.

Then I've had ebay, no name clutch kits that that had throwout bearing hold up for years, worn out disc before bearing going bad.

No idea. I've had mine just over 3 years and no problems. OE bearing. Did you use the bearing that came with the clutch? Chinese bearing?

If/when I replace the clutch it'll get an nsk or koyo bearing.

I believe the 2nd and 3rd that I put in were OEM.

I'm seeing online that Nissan has a new part number for the OEM throw out bearing and the pic also looks different compared to the last OEM one I put in.... 🤔

got the tranny out, here's what the throw out bearing carnage looks like. it's a National brand T.O.B.. I knocked out the rotating head and there is pretty much no plastic or grease left in this thing.

I got curious and took apart the SKF T.O.B. I had in my parts box for when I do the 7th gen swap. the SKF appears to have a sealed being, I put the pics of it at the bottom... still has the plastic backing though

SKF

I asked the transmission shop that I use about this. They said the first place they would look is a slightly bent transmission shaft.

the throw out bearing doesn't move on the input shaft though. I actually found the plastic backing on the shaft that the T.O.B.
slides on....

I got the Nissan throw-out bearing from Nissanpartsdeal and they sent the wrong one. they sent part number 30502-1W720 instead of 30502-41U20.. it looks like the regular old plastic backed TOB. when I cross referenced the part with my vin in the system it's not a go 🤔

than I crossed referenced 30502-31U20 that was replaced by 30502-41U20 and it came out as a big no go..
