Hi I had a 03 Nissan maxima 5 speed about a year ago and had to sadly part with it, I came across a maxima not too far from me it’s a 2000 maxima gle automatic, clean car but I ran into a issue when I went to start the car to leave, he said the keys were reprogrammed to an aftermarket key which he gave me, the car cranked and cranked but didn’t start, after messing with fuses and relays he cranked it one more time and it just started up. I’m looking at buying an immobilizer module and oem maxima keys and finding someone to program it but I was wondering if anyone has had any fixes or ran into this issue before any help would be much appreciated.

 

If the key has the security chip you could try your luck at pairing the key yourself with Nissan Datascan 2. It’s straightforward and I have done it a few times but I also had the og keys.

 

you should speak to a competent locksmith they should be able to propose several options, usually you can add the transponder to the ecu or clone a good working one

car cranking not starting is suspicious, it takes the right transponder chip + transponder reader + ecu combination or the car wont start

 

Immo could definitely be failing.

Ebay keys are fine. I've been using them for years in multiple cars.
Store one in a hidden spot under car and you won't ever have to worry, anyway.

Program yourself with NDS2.

 

$7 dollar ebay keys and NDS2 here as well.
