Whining Noise

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima that runs perfectly fine no lights on the dash but when I shift it into either drive or reverse a loud whining noise start but once I drive off the whine goes away and the car has no trouble accelerating or shifting, If I accelerate while driving it does whine a little but then goes away. I'll come to a stop and the car will start whining again until I drive off and then the whine goes away. Does anyone know what could be causing that?? Again the car does accelerate perfectly fine and shifts perfectly fine too its only the whining noice when the car is stopped and in gear.

Does it whine when parked and when the engine is revved?

It could be a belt tensioner pulley or alternator pulley/bearings making the noise. Might have to remove the accessory belts and start the engine, if the noise goes away, the culprit is with the accessory components.

No it doesn't whine when parked and revved just when the car is put into drive or reverse and also when you accelerate while already driving.
