Transmission Noise???

Hi I have a new 2004 Maxima SL and notice that, on first start in the morning particularly, car make a strange low pitched noise for about one second.

Usually occurs a few seconds after car is put in gear and accelerator is depressed. Occurs when car is cold or warmed and going in forward or reverse. This kind of sounds like a vacuum motor or servo motor energizing. Its a discrete low pitched growl that last a very short time an d car drives/shifts great.

This is a new car should I be bring ing it back to the dealer for service (may be hard to diagnose since only seeems to occur when car has been sitting unused for a while) or is this a normal and explainable noise for this car??

I too have a strange little 'rumble' noise in the mornings... I've always associated it with my driveway & road noise, but now that you mention it I always hear it when leaving in the mornings (and not when returning home)... and this would be a few seconds after car is put in reverse, and does almost sound like a sucking noise or low rubmle... hmmm...

I to have a 04 SL, and I hear the same noise, it seems to me it happens after I back out of my driveway, then put it in drive. I have asked my dealer, of course they have no answer. I am taking it in for the SKYVIEW check next week, I will ask again.

I have scheduled a vsiit to bring my car in and see what they have to say. On further look, this noice only occurs on first start of car when put in gear and accelerated. I can shift back to park and reengage tranny and no noise..but if I turn off engine and restart, the noise reoccurs. Is there any change that there is some type of solenoid valve in the transmission that coudl be grinding/nosiy? Shoudl I worry about it care rides/shifts/accelerates fine....
